End of Season Table - 17 October 2011

Well, that's the 2011 summer league fixtures all played. Unfortunately Anne isn't well at the moment and couldn't play her last match so Graham got the 2 points for that one. Some good performances this time out. Here's the final standings and complete results:
Next Monday 24th will be final night. I'm not expecting Anne to be fit to play so the first round draw will involve the remaining seven with a bye for top of the table Ram.

Final Knockout Draw
First Round
  1. Ram has a bye
  2. Craig v Ben
  3. James v Graham
  4. Andy v Darren
Semi Finals
  • Ram v winner of #4
  • Winner of #2 v winner of #3
There will be cash prizes for the top 3. A big thank you to everybody who took part. The next league will start in the New Year, but don't forget the big annual Christmas Knockout to be held on 19th December this year.

Halloween Special
There will be a special competition on Monday 31st, Halloween. All the entrants will be drawn into two teams and will compete through singles, doubles and a gallon. It will be £3 per player to enter and the winning team will share the pot. I'm hoping Ram will show up as the Count - it'd be a laugh if we could get everybody there in fancy dress for a proper party atmosphere. I'll be putting notices up soon in the pub.

League Table & Fixtures - 10th October

We're into the last round now and just need Graham to play his remaining four matches before we go into the finals. Sorry I didn't manage to get the results together last week - too busy with one thing and another. Honourable mention to Darren who threw a cracking 154 but bust; dishonourable mention for also throwing a 2 in the same match.

We played an impromptu 6-way knockout last night to give everybody who was there a game - despite me throwing some of my best darts this year I lost to Craig in the preliminary round. James put in a steady performance all round to win it and collect the £12 prize. Thanks to everyone who took part.

The finals will be on Monday 24th October and will be an 8-way knockout where 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th and so on.
Halloween Special
There will be a special competition on Monday 31st October, Halloween. I'll split the entrants into two teams and have a series of singles and doubles matches - maybe even an all-in 1001. This one will be £3 per entrant with the winnings divided among the victorious team.

League Table & Fixtures - 19th September

Not far to go now in the league: just two weeks and ten matches left. This coming Monday 26th September is another knockout competition - open to anybody who fancies a go as usual, just pay your £2 entry on the night and winner takes all.

Back to the league - the finals will be held on Monday 24th October with the week before being an opportunity to play any outstanding fixtures and then have some kind of informal competition that night. The structure of the finals will be a straight knockout involving all eight players with 1st playing 8th, 2nd playing 7th and so on in the first round. If there's anybody who can't make it on the night then whoever they would have played will get a bye.

The current standings are here:

League Table & Fixtures - 12th September

Just a brief one this time. League fixtures again on Monday 19th and then a knockout on the 26th.

League Table & Fixtures - 5th September

The league's back - the second half kicked off last night. A couple of people were a bit rusty after the break - you know who you are ;-)

Solid darts from Andy to hit the highest checkout so far - 115 - well done! And a special mention to Anne for yet again nearly getting a point. Took the first leg against Ram fairly comfortably and then struggled a bit with doubles to leave the door open for a comeback.

Bullseye Night Update plus League Table & Fixtures - 22nd August

The latest darts league standings are up now:

"Bullseye" Night - Date Changed
The "Bullseye" darts & quiz night is now going to be on Sunday 28th August from 8:30pm so that most people won't have work the next day (it's Bank Holiday Monday). I've got a couple of teams signed up already - if you're interested please can you put your team name and individual names on a slip of paper and hand it over the bar with your £5 before the night - I really need to have these in a.s.a.p.

To recap - teams of 2 (one darts player, one brainy) will compete against each other through a series of elimination rounds. I will be hosting the event (you can call me Jim Bowen for the night) and it's basically a social event - should be lots of fun so come along and join in! The more the merrier.

League Table & Fixtures - 8th August

It was a catch-up week this week. We cleared the backlog of matches involving James & Graham and we will be going into the second half on the 24th August. We had a little 8-way knockout competition last night as well - just one leg of 501 in each match - which James won with some steady scoring and efficient checking out.

The latest table and fixtures are here:
Next Monday is another knockout - 3 legs of 301 with double in.

Bullseye Night
Bank Holiday Monday 29th August will be Bullseye Night. I need teams of 2 - one darts player and one non-darts player - to compete through a number of rounds of darts skill and general knowledge to try and become the pub Bullseye champions! Entry will be £5 per team - it's open to anybody - and there'll be signs going up in the pub soon.

The format will be based on the TV show. The initial rounds will allocate subject categories to numbers around the board, so 5, 20 or 1 might be Sport, 18, 4 or 13 might be History and so on. Outside the treble ring will be worth 30 points, inside will be 50 points and the bullseye will be 100. One team will be eliminated at the end of each round. The next rounds will be like "Pounds for Points" with normal darts scoring and will continue until we are down to the final team.

The value of the prizes will depend on how many teams I can get signed up before the night - I'll keep you updated. There will be a first, second and third prize for the top 3 placed teams. And of course there will be a special "Star Prize" that the top team can gamble their winnings against...

League Table & Fixtures - 1st August

A good turn out last night - thanks everybody. Next week will be a catch-up week and we'll have a little competition as well.

There will be a knockout on 15th August - open to anybody who's interested - and another one on the Bank Holiday 29th.

Here's the latest standings:
PS: I'm thinking about doing a "Bullseye" night some time soon - let me know if you'd be up for it. Will need teams of 2 (one darts player, one non-darts player to answer the questions).

    League Table & Fixtures - 25th July

Some good matches last night. Cracking start by Ram who scored a 132 with his first 3 darts of the night and went on to checkout in 10 darts. That high score stood until the last match when Andy beat it, first with 133 and then with a 134 despite not winning a leg. I hit the highest checkout again - 3 weeks running now so my doubles have definitely improved!

Sadly Tel has had to drop out of the league because of other commitments. He had only played 2 matches which have been voided (so Anne and I both lose a win and 2 points). Crouch and Graham have a bit of catching up to do if we're not going to have a big fixture pile-up at the end of the season.

Here are the latest standings and the revised fixture list:

Latest League Table & Match Schedule

Finally got around to updating these after the round of matches last Monday:
In short, Dazza and Ram are joint leaders. Graham and Tel have started slowly and are yet to win a match. Plenty of time left for everything to change.

There are a number of knockouts coming up: these are open to everybody. Just turn up by 8pm on the night with your £2 entrance fee and I'll enter you into the draw. The dates are:
    • Monday 15th  August
    • Monday 29th August (Bank Holiday)
    • Monday 26th September
    • Monday 31st October (Halloween)
There will also be another big Christmas Knockout in the week before Christmas. Look out for details nearer the time.

    Results 11 July 2011

A very enjoyable night of darts this week. Bonus: everybody turned up for the first time ;-)

Graham drew with Craig after a slightly shaky start by both players. Crouch got whitewashed by Andy: Andy's looking quite consistent this season. Anne hit some good scores but couldn't find her doubles and lost to Daz who's looking like the one to beat. I beat Tel in a steady match hitting a 56 checkout with 3 darts (8, 16, double-16) — joint highest on the night. Ram beat Graham in another steady match, and then beat Craig with some great totals in the last match of the night: 174 which was the highest of the night with another 3 ton+ scores. Ram also matched my 56 checkout.

So Ram and I shared the prize for highest checkout with Ram winning the highest score. Well done everybody and I'll see you next week.

    Introduction

Hi! My name's Ben and I currently organise a fun darts league at the Royal Standard pub on Frimley Road, Frimley, Surrey.

The league all started a couple of years ago when a bunch of guys decided that it would liven up Monday nights if they had a weekly darts competition. The format was based on the PDC Premier League and it was organised by a guy called Stuart. I played in it and finished up in the top 4 to get a trophy and cash prize.

Unfortunately due to personal circumstances Stuart was unable to organise the next competition so I volunteered and have been organising it since then.

The format is based on a round-robin with each person playing everyone else twice. We play matches over four legs of 301 which allows matches to result in a draw. Two points are awarded for a win and one for a draw and the players are ranked in order of points. The top few at the end of the "season" have a playoff knockout to win trophies and cash prizes.

As well as the league I also organise regular one-off knockout competitions. These might involve variations such as double-in, 501 instead of 301 or even pairs. I will post details of upcoming knockouts here: basically they are open to anybody as long as they can pay the entry fee (normally £2). The next one coming up will be on 15th August 2011 from 8pm.
