League Table & Fixtures - 20th February

The league is well under way now - two weeks in - and things are shaping up. Looks like my decision to play legs from 501 instead of 301 is paying off: there's some good, steady scoring with more trebles than previous seasons.

Match Report
Andy started the night off with another solid performance - four or five tons - and deservedly whitewashed me 3-0. I salvaged some respect with a 101 and then a 140 in one leg but couldn't find a double with both hands! Anne played Craig, and despite some good scoring and taking one leg with a brief appearance on the high checkout leaderboard, Craig's finishing made the difference. James took on Ram, winning 3-1 although both felt they didn't play their best. And finally, in a substitute fixture since Darren was unable to play his match, I played Sam. She scored well - the scores were well-matched - but I must have benefited from playing earlier because my aim was much improved on the doubles and I won the match. My 140 stood as the highest score on the night and James checked out with a 60 to take that prize.
Next Week
Having played two matches this week with the rearranged fixtures I now have a week off, with Darren playing two matches next time. The fixtures are:
  1. Andy v Anne
  2. Craig v Ram
  3. Darren v James
  4. Darren v Sam
And Finally...
There will be a knockout in three weeks' time (12th March). Open to everybody - come along and join in!

League Table & Fixtures - 13th February

Welcome Back
The darts league is back! A new face this season - Sam, the pub's manager, who is also laying on food to sustain our little band. I've made a couple of small changes this time, but it's mostly the same familiar format. The winners of the highest score and highest checkout will now receive a bonus point in addition to the cash prize on the night. Legs are now played from 501 rather than 301 - this reflects the improved standard of darts we're all playing. Lastly, I've dropped the £1 penalty for a score less than 3 - the shame of it is enough!

Opening Night
The first night back saw some good darts. Steady scoring all round - I hit a 139 and both Craig and Andy hit 140 to share the prize for highest score. James checked out with a stunning 121, finishing with a bullseye. A very well-deserved £5 there. Anne played well, drawing against Ram and hitting a 68 checkout in the process. And finally Sam, thrown in at the deep end with a match against last week's knockout winner James, settled into her game quickly and hit some good scores. Well done everybody!

Knockout Nights
Following the success of the occasional one-off knockout competitions through last season, I've set aside several Monday nights for more of the same this season. Don't forget that even if you're not playing in the league you can still play in the knockouts - they are open to everybody. Some of these will feature double-in, some will be doubles and I'll also repeat the team event we had last year. And the "special" board with half-size doubles and trebles might make an appearance as well...

Knockouts will be held on these Mondays:
  • 12th March
  • 9th April (Easter Monday)
  • 7th May (Bank holiday)
  • 28th May (Bank holiday)
Finally, I am leaving Monday 4th June free because it is a special bank holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and there are likely to be other events taking place.

End of Season Table - 17 October 2011

Well, that's the 2011 summer league fixtures all played. Unfortunately Anne isn't well at the moment and couldn't play her last match so Graham got the 2 points for that one. Some good performances this time out. Here's the final standings and complete results:
Next Monday 24th will be final night. I'm not expecting Anne to be fit to play so the first round draw will involve the remaining seven with a bye for top of the table Ram.

Final Knockout Draw
First Round
  1. Ram has a bye
  2. Craig v Ben
  3. James v Graham
  4. Andy v Darren
Semi Finals
  • Ram v winner of #4
  • Winner of #2 v winner of #3
There will be cash prizes for the top 3. A big thank you to everybody who took part. The next league will start in the New Year, but don't forget the big annual Christmas Knockout to be held on 19th December this year.

Halloween Special
There will be a special competition on Monday 31st, Halloween. All the entrants will be drawn into two teams and will compete through singles, doubles and a gallon. It will be £3 per player to enter and the winning team will share the pot. I'm hoping Ram will show up as the Count - it'd be a laugh if we could get everybody there in fancy dress for a proper party atmosphere. I'll be putting notices up soon in the pub.

League Table & Fixtures - 10th October

We're into the last round now and just need Graham to play his remaining four matches before we go into the finals. Sorry I didn't manage to get the results together last week - too busy with one thing and another. Honourable mention to Darren who threw a cracking 154 but bust; dishonourable mention for also throwing a 2 in the same match.

We played an impromptu 6-way knockout last night to give everybody who was there a game - despite me throwing some of my best darts this year I lost to Craig in the preliminary round. James put in a steady performance all round to win it and collect the £12 prize. Thanks to everyone who took part.

The finals will be on Monday 24th October and will be an 8-way knockout where 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th and so on.
Halloween Special
There will be a special competition on Monday 31st October, Halloween. I'll split the entrants into two teams and have a series of singles and doubles matches - maybe even an all-in 1001. This one will be £3 per entrant with the winnings divided among the victorious team.

League Table & Fixtures - 19th September

Not far to go now in the league: just two weeks and ten matches left. This coming Monday 26th September is another knockout competition - open to anybody who fancies a go as usual, just pay your £2 entry on the night and winner takes all.

Back to the league - the finals will be held on Monday 24th October with the week before being an opportunity to play any outstanding fixtures and then have some kind of informal competition that night. The structure of the finals will be a straight knockout involving all eight players with 1st playing 8th, 2nd playing 7th and so on in the first round. If there's anybody who can't make it on the night then whoever they would have played will get a bye.

The current standings are here:

League Table & Fixtures - 12th September

Just a brief one this time. League fixtures again on Monday 19th and then a knockout on the 26th.

League Table & Fixtures - 5th September

The league's back - the second half kicked off last night. A couple of people were a bit rusty after the break - you know who you are ;-)

Solid darts from Andy to hit the highest checkout so far - 115 - well done! And a special mention to Anne for yet again nearly getting a point. Took the first leg against Ram fairly comfortably and then struggled a bit with doubles to leave the door open for a comeback.
